Ground Kontrol to Major Tom
OK. . . So I was out trying to find something to do again (I know, I do that a lot) and someone suggested video games. I laughed. I hadn’t played arcade games since I was in High School. That’s ok, my friend said. The place he was thinking of had the same games that I had played way back then. It also had live music, food, and alcohol. Arcade, live music, alcohol, & food? sounds like the greatest arcade ever built. Ground Kontrol. Let’s go. So off we went in search of booze and games.
What I found was one of the most wonderfully interesting places that I had been in a while. It had recently been remodeled to have a really Tron vibe. With Pac Man tiles in the bathroom and a collection of 28 pinball games, it was a blast.
On 2nd Thursdays, there is a $5 cover for unlimited free play. Located at 511 NW Couch in Portland not far from the cool condos in the Pear District, this place is perfect for a company get together, a night out with the gang, or just a cool place to relive High School. . . . (if you’re as old as I am).
